Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data Airports 24/7 (“the service”) handles, why, how long it is kept, and how you can revoke access or have it deleted. Airports 24/7 is operated by one individual. There is no company, no advertising network, and no data broker involved.
The short version. Watching the stream requires nothing from you and collects nothing about you. If you type a command in live chat, the service records your YouTube channel identifier and what you typed, so that it can respond to you and apply its own rules fairly. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone outside the service.
1. This website
This site is static. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, embeds no third-party trackers, and has no login. It is hosted on GitHub Pages, which — like any web host — records requests, including IP addresses, in order to serve pages and protect against abuse. Those logs belong to GitHub and are governed by the GitHub Privacy Statement. The operator does not have access to them.
2. Watching the stream
The stream is delivered by YouTube. If you watch it, your relationship is with YouTube, and Google's handling of your data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. Airports 24/7 receives no information about individual viewers from YouTube, and does not attempt to identify, track, or profile anyone who is only watching.
3. Google and YouTube data the service uses
Airports 24/7 is an API Client of YouTube API Services. It uses them in two distinct ways.
3.1 The operator's own account
The service holds an OAuth authorization granted by the operator's own Google account, and a second granted to the project's bot account. These authorizations exist so the service can create, monitor, and repair its own live broadcasts without a person present, and so the bot can read and post in its own live chat. No third party grants access to their Google account, and the service does not offer a sign-in feature to viewers or anyone else.
3.2 Viewer data from live chat
When you send a message in the live chat of an Airports 24/7 broadcast, YouTube makes that message available to the service through its API. From it, the service records:
| Data | Why it is recorded |
|---|---|
| Your YouTube channel ID | A stable identifier for you, so that requests, votes, and enforcement decisions attach to the right person even if you change your display name. |
| Your display name | So the stream and the chat bot can address you and attribute a request. |
| Message content, for messages addressed to the bot | To interpret the command you sent and act on it. |
| Participation counts and dates | Counts of messages and of distinct days seen, plus first-seen date. Used to weight community requests so that a handful of new accounts cannot dominate them. |
| Enforcement history | Whether you have been warned or barred from using commands, and why. |
| Paid request records (not yet in use) | If paid requests are introduced, the service would record what was requested, when, and confirmation from the payment processor that it was paid. Card numbers and payment credentials are never seen by, nor stored by, this service. |
The service does not collect your email address, your real name, your location, or your YouTube watch history, and it has no means of doing so.
4. How the data is used
Solely to operate the stream: to carry out commands, to run votes, to decide whether a request qualifies, to enforce the Terms of Service, and to diagnose faults. It is not used to build advertising profiles, and it is not used for any purpose unrelated to the stream.
Aggregate, non-identifying figures — for example, how many commands were received in a week — may be mentioned publicly. No individual is identified in them.
5. Where the data is kept, and for how long
Chat and reputation records are stored in a database on a private server operated and physically controlled by the operator. Administrative access to that server is restricted to the operator's own devices and is not reachable from the public internet. The data is not hosted with a third-party analytics or marketing provider.
Message content is kept only as long as needed to act on a command and to investigate abuse, and is then discarded. Channel identifiers, participation counts, and enforcement history are kept for as long as the service runs, because their entire purpose is to persist between broadcasts. Records of paid requests, if that tier is ever introduced, would be kept as long as required for tax and payment-dispute purposes.
6. Sharing
Data is not sold, rented, or traded. It is not shared with advertisers or data brokers. It is disclosed only:
- back to Google and YouTube, in the course of using YouTube API Services — for example, posting a reply in the live chat;
- to a payment processor, if paid requests are introduced, and then only the minimum needed to take a payment;
- where required by law, or to protect the safety of a person or the integrity of the service.
7. Limited use of Google user data
Airports 24/7's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data obtained from Google APIs is used only to provide and improve the features described in this policy, is not transferred to others except as set out in section 6, is not used for advertising, and is not read by any human except where you have asked for support, where it is necessary for security or to investigate abuse, or where the law requires it.
8. Revoking access and deleting your data
You can revoke Airports 24/7's access to your Google account at any time through Google's security settings page at https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. Because the service does not ask viewers to sign in, this will normally apply only to the operator's own accounts.
To have the chat records associated with your YouTube channel deleted, write to privacy@airports-247.com from, or identifying, the channel concerned. Records of enforcement action may be retained where deleting them would allow a ban to be evaded; everything else is removed.
If the service's authorization to a Google account is revoked, any data obtained under that authorization and no longer permitted to be held is deleted.
9. Children
The stream is not directed at children, and the service does not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age at which they may hold a Google account in their country. Use of YouTube live chat is subject to YouTube's own age requirements.
10. Changes to this policy
If the service begins to collect or use data in a way this policy does not already describe, this page will be updated and the change dated before that use begins, and — where the change affects data obtained through YouTube API Services — affected users will be asked to accept the revised policy before it takes effect.
